I am beginning my list and here is what I need ideas for:
- a 7-year old girl who LOVES creative arts and crafts (but can benefit from reading materials)
- a 4-year old boy who likes action-packed toys,
skateboarding, sports (but can use help with fine-motor skills)
- a 15 month-old who- well is an active toddler!
Links would be great!

Get them something that they will all enjoy like a board game or give the girl an art set, give the boy a new skateboard, and give the baby baby toys.

For the seven-year-old, I recommend books by Klutz or something similar. They make activity books that require reading while encouraging artistic creativity.
Board games are a great way to encourage reading–my cousin learned to read so he could understand a Star Wars game he was playing. Scene It! Disney Edition is a game you can play as a family. The questions are also read aloud so she can follow along while she sounds out the words.
Creativity for Kids makes great art kits. I especially like their bobblehead kits.
For the 4-year-old boy, I recommend some beginning LEGO toys. They may not be “action packed”, but once some of them (such as the trucks) are built, they make for exciting, imaginitive fun. . . and they’ll definitely help with those fine motor skills.
If you want to spring the $90, the new Fisher Price Smart Cycle might be just up his alley.
Both might benefit from a Leapster or Leappad learning system.
For the “active toddler,” I love the new Knot Wud products. They’re made to look like wood, but they’re made out of a soft material that your child won’t get hurt with. (more available in-store)=&kw=knot%20wud&origkw=knot%20wud&f=Taxonomy/TRUS/2254197&sr=1
The new Tickle Me friends are really cute, too.

I would get your 7 year old some Sculpey clay and molds. My son was 6 when my sister got him hooked on it. The clay is soft to work with, comes in a ton of colors, and the molds are so cute! They can make everything from key chains to jewelry and so much more. After they are done creating, you bake it in the oven and it hardens the pieces. My son has had so much fun with it. He’s 10 now and still has to have every new mold they come out with.
I would get your 4 year old some Playmobil sets. They have all kinds of very detailed play sets. We have had everything from the farm, to the jungle, pirates, airport, to cowboys and indians. They are toys that they will play with over and over for many years. They cost a bit more than some toys, but are well worth it. Go to and check out the current sets. Your 7 year old would also enjoy them. They also have a great resale value as they discontinue sets regularly and that makes them highly collectible. They also make set called 123 that are for 18 months and up. All of these toys are great. Playmobil is always getting awards for being best toy.
Check out the Little Tikes toys for your 15 month old. They have great toys!
